Ice Cream Truck

I hear the ice cream truck going by,

and I think of you.

You’d love ice cream.

You’d rush out the the ice cream truck and get some.

You’d get mint flavor.

You would look at me and smile,

you would like the ice cream.

When I think of the ice cream truck

and when I think of you,

it’s like a happy song with sad lyrics.

You would love the ice cream,

you’d love it.

But you’ll never get the chance to have any

and that saddens me.

I’ll never see you lick ice cream,

and I’ll never see you at all.

That saddens me.

And they say that you don’t know what you’ve had until you’ve lost it,

but I’ve never lost you,

because you were never there.
